Teaching Assistant 27.5hrs p.w.

PCD5 £19,554 per annum pro rata


The Governors of Borrowdale C of E School wish to appoint an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated part time Teaching Assistant to join our team. The hours for this role are 27.5 hours per week, term time only.


The post will involve supporting and providing individual care for pupils with a range of needs, including Emotional and Behavioural Needs and assisting teachers to maximise time efficiency. You'll be required to work with pupils who may have behaviour issues, Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) amongst other special educational needs.


This varied role will initially involve supporting particular pupils in 1:1 situations, taking small groups and assisting in mainstream classes, and may include break time and/or lunch time cover. The role may also involve working outdoors. Recent relevant experience of working with KS2 children is essential.

  • Have experience de-escalating situations of behavioural issues.
  • Be able to use own initiative and creativity and act accordingly without having to be directed.
  • Have experience working with pupils on the autistic spectrum.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Work in partnership with colleagues to promote a creative and stimulating learning environment.
  • Be able to build positive relationships with all pupils, staff and parents.
  • Have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent related to working with children.
  • be fully committed to inclusion.


This post is available when school resumes, or soon thereafter, and is temporary until the end of the Spring Term 2021 as it is reliant on time limited funding for pupils with SEND. Induction support will be available.
