Please let us know if you are interested in becoming involved with activities in school.
Borrowdale School welcomes many volunteers to help us with the education of our children. The school would not function anywhere near as well without the help of parents and volunteers and many activities really benefit from extra helpers. We feel that the involvement of parents in children's education is vital and we encourage active participation in many ways.
We maintain a school which promotes a respectful climate for both adults and children. At Borrowdale School adults and pupils are valued, happy and seek to attain the highest possible standards. When helping in school we ask volunteers to be aware that they may not know the full background of the circumstances that you encounter.
There is a requirement for schools to carry out a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check for all staff and volunteers who have regular contact with children. In order for you to work as a volunteer or parent helper, you will need to initiate the DBS check. Information on how to do this is available from the school office. Please be assured that all information will be treated in the strictest confidence and that these checks are done only in the best interests and safety of the children.
In case we forget to say, please be assured that we really do appreciate your help (we may sometimes forget because we are so busy but we do). If you have any worries or query, or any good ideas on how we can improve something, please let us know – we are always willing to listen.
