All pupils in at Borrowdale Primary School are taught French and Spanish as their Modern Foreign Language in alternate years. We feel that by learning a foreign languages, children develop their curiosity for the wider world and develop their understanding of other cultures and, by doing so, further their understanding of their place in a global society.
All children from Year 3 to Year 6 enjoy language lessons that both develop their knowledge of France and Spain and its cultures and customs as well as to express their ideas in another language. Lessons are fun and involve a great deal of speaking, but children also develop their skills in writing as this becomes more appropriate.
