K.S.1 children had the most delightful day out at Grasmere Garden Centre to enhance their science project.
On arrival they were treated to a tray-bake and juice. Then Ant and Ester delivered a lesson about the structure of plants, the life cycle of plants, what conditions plants require to grow healthily and how important plants are for our precious world.
Then the children sewed some cress seeds, but their favourite part was to repot a primula plant because they could get their hands into the compost! Ant went on to explain how to look after their primulas at home, how often they would need watering and how to nip out the dead flowers to allow new ones to grow.
The café kindly accommodated us once more in allowing us to eat our school packed lunch again. The generosity, friendliness and the time the staff gave up for us was remarkable. Thank you very much!
